Salvia divinorum is a perennial herb found in Mexico. Its leaves contain salvinorin A, a powerful psychoactive compound known to have been used since ancient times for attaining hallucinogenic states of mind. In the middle of the 1990s, it became widespread under the form of a smoking herb, but many people have reported its effects to be unpleasant.
